Don Larsen's historic perfect game occurred during Game 5 of the 1956 World Series on October 8, 1956, at Yankee Stadium in New York. The New York Yankees defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers 2-0 in that game. Larsen retired all 27 Brooklyn Dodgers batters he faced, needing only 97 pitches to complete the game. Larsen was named the World Series MVP for his performance, and the Yankees went on to win the series in seven games.
