Product details

Babe Ruth, nicknamed "The Sultan of Swat" and "The Bambino," was an American professional baseball player widely considered the greatest to ever play the game and one of America's most iconic sports heroes. He revolutionized baseball, ushering in the "live-ball era" with his prodigious home-run hitting power. RuthÕs 1927 season, which featured 60 HRs amongst its accomplishments, is one of the greatest seasons in Baseball history. Ruth famously converted from pitcher to hitter early on in his career, which is attributed by him being the all time WAR leader with 182.6. Additionally, he held a record for 29 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings pitched in the World Series, a mark that lasted until 1961. Ruth hit 714 career homeruns (which still ranks 3rd all time), and is widely considered the greatest player in the history of the game.

Lou Gehrig, nicknamed "the Iron Horse" for his durability, was the legendary first baseman who played his entire 17-season career with the New York Yankees from 1923 to 1939. He is best known for his record of 2,130 consecutive games played, and being the other half of the Yankees Murderers Row duo. A career .340 hitter, Gehrig hit 493 HRs and 1,995 RBI. Gehrig won six World Series rings as a Yankee, Gehrig's consecutive games streak ended on May 2, 1939, when he removed himself from the lineup due to his declining health. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with ALS. The Yankees retired his number 4 uniform the same year, the first time in MLB history a player received this honor. He delivered his famous "luckiest man on the face of the earth" speech on July 4, 1939. Due to his immense impact on the game, Gehrig was enshrined via special election to the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1939, the same year as his final game. It remains the only such time in history that this has happened. Gehrig would pass away from the disease on June 2, 1941, at age 37 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), now commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease". This custom Album Page cut has been hand signed by both Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, and comes fully authenticated with a complete Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
